If you’ve read our handy guides on how to care for your fabric or leather sofa, you’ll know that the best way to clean your sofa is with one of our specially developed, premium care kits. Wondering what all the fuss is about? Sit back and let us tell you all about what these kits include and just how they work wonders to look after your sofa.

Fabric Care Kit

Do you adore the look and feel of fabric? From the luxurious deep pile of velvet to super durable microfibre, we’ve got a huge range of fabric sofas to choose from.

Once you’ve made your choice, don’t forget to add a fabric care kit to your order. Whichever fabric type you’ve gone for, this kit is specially developed to deal with spills, stains and odours, so it’s a must-have emergency plan for your sofa.

Along with a super soft microfibre cloth, our fabric care kit includes the following items:

Fresh stain remover

Quick action is always a good idea when you spill something on your fabric sofa. This water based cleaning product is specially formulated to remove fresh stains from most fabrics. It’s designed to be sprayed directly onto the stain and left for a couple of minutes to set to work. The area can then be gently dabbed with the microfibre cloth included, to pick up any residue. Finish with a clean, damp, colourfast cloth to remove any product left behind. If you find that the stain is a little more stubborn, you can reapply or switch to one of the other products in the kit if necessary.

Old and Resistant stain remover

Didn’t notice the spill at first or dealing with a stain that’s a little more stubborn? Don’t worry, we’ve included a product just for that scenario. Again it’s water based, so it’s safe to use on even delicate fabrics like velvet, if treated correctly. Spray it directly onto the stain and give it up to 5 minutes to work into the fibres. The microfibre cloth should then be firmly dabbed – never rubbed – to pick up the stain. Grab a clean, damp, colourfast cloth to remove any residual product and your sofa should be looking as good as new. For the most stubborn stains, you can repeat the process a second time if required.

Grease & Oil stain remover

Eaten curry on the sofa and had a mishap? It happens to all of us. Oily and greasy marks are one of the most troublesome to deal with. Act fast with this specialist product and you’ll hopefully catch it in the nick of time so that you don’t have to live with it for years to come. It works just the same as the other products – spray it on, leave for 5 minutes and dab off with the microfibre cloth.

Odour remover

Worried that whatever you spilled might have been cleaned up but the smell might linger? We’ve thought about that too – that’s why your care kit includes a product tailored to removing any odours left behind. It works to neutralise any bacterial action that might occur on the affected area, to prevent any nasty smells or potential damage to your sofa. Simply mist the spray over the site where the spill happened – being careful not to get the fabric too wet. Leave for up to 5 minutes and then use a clean, absorbent, colourfast cloth to soak up any moisture.

Pet stain remover

Share your home with an adorable but unpredictable 4 legged friend? The final cleaning product in your care kit is tailored for any pet related mishaps. If your new puppy has an accident on your fabric sofa, simply spray this solution onto the area, give it up to 5 minutes to work its magic, and then get dabbing with the microfibre cloth included. When there’s no trace of the stain left you can switch to a clean damp, colourfast cloth to get rid of any leftover product on the fabric.

Fabric rinse

When you finish treating a stain with any of the products mentioned above, the final stage is always to use the fabric rinse. This makes sure all traces of cleaning fluids are removed from your sofa. It’s important not to skip this step as residual cleaning product may continue to act on the fabric, causing more harm than good over time. It can also attract dust and dirt if not rinsed off properly. All you need to do to prevent this is lightly mist the area with the fabric rinse, being careful not to get it too wet. Leave for up to 5 minutes and then use a clean, absorbent cloth to remove any excess dampness.

Important Tip

To avoid water marks after cleaning we advise that you dampen a colourfast cloth with boiled water from a kettle and gently wipe the entire panel or cushion from seam to seam. This will help to prevent any water stains as the fabric dries.

Leather Care Kit

Prefer the warmth and luxury of supple natural leather? From super soft, untreated aniline to durable pigmented leather, we’ve got lots of beautiful leather sofas to choose from.

Once you’ve made your choice, don’t forget to add a leather care kit to your order. Suitable for use on aniline, semi-aniline and pigmented leather, it includes a leather protection cream that should be applied to your leather as soon as it’s delivered.

Along with a super soft microfibre cloth, our leather care kit includes the following items:

Soft leather cleaner

This mild cleaner is formulated for regular use to help maintain your leather. We recommend you use it at least once a month, and focus on the areas where your head and hands come into contact with your sofa – as this is where most residue is likely to be transferred. Apply the product directly onto one of the disposable microfibre cloths provided and use a circular motion to wipe the leather. Always make sure you let the sofa dry for at least 30 minutes before you sit on it again.

Strong leather cleaner

Spills happen. We all eat and drink on our sofas and even the most careful amongst us could have an accident at any given time. But not to worry, our strong cleaner can even remove fresh ink marks if you act quickly enough. Apply a liberal amount to one of the cloths, wipe in a circular motion and let the area dry for 30 minutes. For particularly tough stains you may need to repeat the procedure.

Leather protection cream

It’s important to condition your leather after cleaning to stop it drying out. When applied after cleaning, the protection cream included in your kit will create a protective barrier on your leather, which will make it a little more resistant to staining. For best results, we recommend you use this product after every second clean.

Leather protection cream plus

Designed to be applied after your protection cream, this extra treatment is specially formulated for the areas that your skin comes into contact with the most – like head and arm rests. It strengthens the protective barrier for optimum resistance to staining, making cleaning easier. Just make sure you give your protection cream 30 minutes to sink in before you apply this extra layer. It needs to be carefully applied, evenly and without too much pressure to create the perfect protective layer.

Pull-Up Leather Care Kit

The most delicate of leathers, pull up leather is characterised by the slightly shiny, waxy feel to the surface. These aniline hides have a wax finish to protect the leather, which has a uniquely beautiful, luxurious worn look but can be very easy to mark or scratch. This kind of leather is best for those who like the distressed look. Scratches, scars and marks on the hide are all characteristics of pull up leather, and normal use will only emphasise these as the leather ages. It can’t be beaten for softness and warmth, if you’re a fan of the lived-in look.

These leathers need a little extra special care so they get their own kit.

The pull up leather care kit includes only the soft cleaner as the strong cleaner is not suitable for use on this type of leather.

Pull-Up Leather reviver cream

Once you’ve gently cleaned your pull up leather with the soft cleaner, this miracle cream can restore minor scuffs and scratches. Apply directly onto one of the cloths and gently work into the affected area.

All of our care kits are also available in store. Make sure you discuss your care kit with a Sofologist when you buy your new sofa – that’s the best way to make sure you get the right kit for your fabric or leather.
