Hi, I’m Lizzie.

I’m an interiors editor and have been writing about everything to do with homes for many years. I’ve worked with some of the UK’s leading high street brands and popular magazines – I was previously Editor for Style at Home and also held the reins for Grand Designs, Homemaker and House Beautiful during my almost 20-year career. I’m a big interiors fan and love to keep ahead of the curve, discovering the latest trends, products and collections. I’m thrilled to have had a sneak preview of the new spring ranges from Sofology and feel privileged to share my picks with you here.

There’s something really special about spring. When it arrives it brings a sense of change and renewal, a feeling like darker days are behind us and fresh opportunity is on the horizon. For our homes it signals the chance to spruce up our rooms, let in the light and try something new. And where better to start than by switching your sofa? So this season, say hello to a new style from Sofology. Here are my five favourites from the 2024 spring collection – all handcrafted, with a lifetime structural guarantee included.

Create hotel chic with the Fitzrovia

Just imagine you’re in a boutique hotel bar somewhere fancy. The cocktail you’re sipping tastes delicious. The chair you’re sitting on, upholstered in plush, tactile velvet, feels silky, and expensive – you just want to bottle up this moment and bring it home, right? Well, now you can with Sofology’s new Fitzrovia range – gorgeous and curvaceous, it nails the hotel chic trend.

For me, it’s all about the shapes. They bring all the glamour – the boxy silhouette of the sofa – available in four-, three- and two-seater options – boasts deliciously chunky curves and stitched fluting; it really is stunning. The unique scatter cushions, including a completely spherical ball shape alongside fur-covered ones, add even more glamour.

Of course, fabric is key when it comes to achieving this look, and the Fitzrovia is spot on with its matte velvet, mini boucle and luxury chenille options in a kaleidoscope of colours. Pull up the statement accent chair to complete the scheme, and you’ll instantly be transported to the grandeur of that fondly remembered hotel. If this were in my home, I’d be hosting Friday night cocktails every week.

Add some retro flair with the Calista

Comforting textures, boldness and lots of curves were key in the 70s with sofas being extra cosy. With its design nod to the era, this is what I love about the Calista. It has such a gorgeous, open and inviting shape with angled arms that really dial up the comfort level, providing plenty of space to stretch out and relax.

When it comes to customisation, you can flex your creative fingers with the Calista. Choose from an assortment of sizes and configurations, as well chaise, sofa beds, chairs and footstools, all upholstered in a linen look or soft chenille fabric, and in a plethora of shades. You can even tailor the look and feel with the back cushions, choosing between feather-filled pillows or fibre-filled full backs for your own preferred comfort level.

What’s more, the sofa has this optional retro-style fluted stitching across the sides and back, making it a real statement piece for an open-plan room. I can just imagine lounging around on the Calista, listening to my old vinyls.

Streamline your scheme with the Hackney

The appeal of the minimalist look is going nowhere fast. Enduring, understated and with simplicity at its heart, it’s a trend that will uplift and elevate your home whilst keeping you grounded and calm at the same time. In our busy lives, it’s a firm favourite of mine.

Sofology’s contemporary Hackney, with its slight curves, bold lines and muted angles, combines all of this streamlined style with the richness of luxury for a minimaluxe aesthetic that is right on trend. Boasting a sleek, yet classic shape on high-set feet with thin, open arms, it gives a spacious and inviting feel.

What I love most is the intricate stitching and discreet piping that adds a majestic touch and looks fabulous in any of the available finishes – be that tactile chenille, mini boucle or short-pile dapple fabric. And not only is there a wide choice of sizes and configurations, you can also customise the comfort level by choosing between springs or memory foam.

Create calm with the Mayfair

I love New England interiors, with their calming, pared-back styling and soothing colour palettes of beige, oatmeal and seaside hues. With a nod to this classic home style, the Mayfair brings all the comfort. Available in linen-look and soft chenille fabrics, in a curated selection of hushed shades, including silver grey, almond and ocean blue (my favourite) – it promises all the calming relaxation you need.

And there’s something quite grown-up about the Mayfair, too. It’s a statement piece with its soft, sloping arms, sculpted curves and bold straight lines, creating a timeless silhouette that will fit right at home, whatever your existing decor. You can dial up the sophistication by dressing with opulent velvet cushions and tactile throws, or go for something more casual with unfussy pieces.

To keep it contemporary, it sits proudly on high-feet, available in gold, chrome or walnut. Serpentine springs, aligned with silent wire, provide added support, especially alongside fibre-filled back cushions that mould into your back as you sink down to relax. Bliss.

Stay connected with the Carrera

Designed with modern living in mind, the voluptuous Carrera sofa is bursting with tech features that are sure to get you buzzing. You’ll find power headrests, USB charging ports, and heated seats (yes, really!), making kicking back and relaxing a joy. Choose the optional power recliner with a memory-function button and you’ll never want to leave your seat.

Fully customisable, in hard-wearing leather, relaxed chenille or durable Lifestyle flex fabric, you can take it even further with an optional smart console unit loaded with extras – hidden cup holders, handy storage space for remote controls and magazines, three-pin power sockets, and extra USB charging ports. Phew!

Being an interiors fan, what I love most about the Carrera is that style isn’t compromised for smarts. It has this stunning, sumptuous shape with sloped, padded arms and panelled stitching that marries pure comfort with modern living like a dream. Now, did someone say movie marathon?
