With the release of the new Barbie movie this summer, mood-boosting, fabulous shades are having a resurgence and we’re falling in love with pink all over again.

We asked our Head of Buying, Gisela Lancaster, the best way to achieve the Barbiecore aesthetic at home.

“When it comes to Barbiecore, playfulness is key. Think about whether you are going to introduce pops of colour or go for a full colour impact. Larger items of furniture, such as sofas, in brighter, bolder shades of pink can be used to reinvigorate spaces and make a statement in the room.”

For many homes, particularly over the past few years, pink has become a neutral tone offering a contemporary twist on the traditional beige. Opting for a pink sofa or armchair is the perfect way to bring the shade into the home, creating a base that can be built upon.

When it comes to upholstery, think about texture; blush velvet will create an opulent feel, whereas a blush cotton provides a smoother, more relaxed feel. Pairing pink with monochrome or darker hues, such as teal, works really well and ensures the pink pops. It can be easy to get carried away with your love of pink, so be mindful not to include too many clashing colours within your scheme as using bolder shades should be fun, yet considered.
