We’re excited to announce the launch of our newest wave of TV advertising – and this time we’ve welcomed back a familiar face. Putting his feet up on our brand new sofa ranges once again is Owen Wilson, Hollywood superstar and all-round King of Chill.

What’s the ad about?

Set against a stunning, sun-drenched backdrop we see Owen stretch out and wind down on two incredible new sofa ranges. In the first of the two 30 second adverts, he’s chilling out on the super sleek Odessy, comparing its clean lines and exquisite craftsmanship with the beautiful bespoke Lignum surfboard hanging above the sofa.

Drawing parallels between the expertly designed and intricately handcrafted pieces, Owen’s effortlessly relaxed presence encapsulates the whole idea of ‘feeling at home on a sofa you love’. A natural evolution from the last TV campaign which put the focus firmly on the ‘Little Things’ that go into each and every sofa we create, these new adverts use the star power of American actor Wilson to highlight the design features of the new ranges.

Why Owen Wilson?

With his feet up, reclined on the sofa, it’s clearer than ever that Owen makes relaxing look every bit as peaceful as it should be. His trademark laid-back style of delivery and undeniable charm are the perfect fit for the beachside location and stunning architecture.

Head of Marketing at Sofology, Jan Duckworth, explains: ‘When we started talking about the concepts for this set of ads, there was never any question about who we wanted to star in them. We loved working with Owen the first time round, and his character just naturally sits so well with the brand and our whole idea of “feeling at home on a sofa you love”. He’s talented, relaxed and great fun to work with. We were able to use things that Owen enjoys – such as surfing – and weave them into the concept in a way that not only seems natural, but also highlights the stunning features of our sofas – those little things that set us apart.’

What makes a sofa ad-worthy?

Whilst every Sofology sofa is an exclusive design and handmade from the finest materials, using expert craftsmanship, there’s no denying that some sofas are made to stand out. We can’t reveal the product from the second new advert just yet but, like the Odessy, it’s been selected for its show stopping silhouette, unique personality and exceptional quality. We’re sure you’re going to love it just as much as Owen.

The journey from design brief to ad-worthy sofa doesn’t happen overnight. The process starts with a concept from Sofology’s Buying Director, Suzy McMahon, who briefs the designers with details such as colour, size, shapes, as well as current inspirations. This is realised via moodboards and presented back, before being expertly crafted so she can get a feel for how the finished item will look.

Suzy says; ‘I like to think that all of our sofas are unique and distinctly “Sofology” but there’s no denying these two ranges have something a little bit special about them. I love the sleek modern lines and crisp white leather of the Odessy – and the other range…well you’ll just have to wait and see.’I am text block. Click edit button to change this text. Hi, great advert, certainly makes your sofa range very appealing. But it wouldn’t be complete without the pet. I would love to know which breed of dog was used in the latest Owen Wilson commercial.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
We had a marvellous dog that looked just like Owen’s and was not a pedigree Nova Scotian Duck Toller retriever. She was a mongrel mixture of half border collie, quarter spaniel and quarter golden retriever. Identical to a NSDTR for short except for the colour of her nose. NSDTR’s have pink noses and Megan’s was black. We stayed at a famous spot in the north west of Scotland and had a bookshop/coffeeshop by a salmon river. And the bottom of our drive was a trail to the Kirkaig Falls and then on to the famous Suilven mountain an iconic mountain that dominates the landscape. Megan loved company and loved being out for walks as all dogs do and so would tag on to walkers at the start of the trail. She might do a two and a half hour walk in the morning and then the same in the afternoon. She might be gone the whole day on an eight hour hike to the top of Suilven and back. On one Saturday I was closing up the shop at the end of the afternoon and there was no sign of Megan and not at home either(which was adjacent to the shop). A couple earlier in the afternoon had asked me if they could leave their car in the shop carpark overnight as they were going to camp out and climb Suilven in the morning. There were no cars left in the public carpark down at the start of the trail so I had to assume Megan had gone AWOL with this couple of hikers. Around 4 in the afternoon the next day the wanderers returned. The couple had been miles up the trail before Megan made her following known to them. So that night she slept between them in the tent. She had sausages and baked beans for breakfast and the couple had the most marvellous two days with her. A picture taken of her on the top is now my screensaver so I still get to see her every day I switch my computer on. Every time I see the Sofology advert now it brings back all the wonderful memories of Megan and all the visitors over the years who loved her company.

      Many thanks
