Have you seen our TV ad featuring our stunning Palm sofa? In keeping with the coastal location, our room sets were deliberately calm, cool and accessorised for comfort. Read on to find out how we put this look together.

Mirror the scenery

When the world outside the window is so beautiful, it naturally becomes a source of interiors inspiration. Providing everything from colour palettes, to ideas for using different textures in your space, taking a good look at the scenery around your home can be the perfect way to start your next makeover.

For beachy vibes, a nod to the natural can go a long way towards bringing the whole look together. Remove anything that looks metallic and choose statement wooden furniture as the base of the room. Artisan items with an authentic coastal feel will have a huge impact. Think driftwood shelving, curvy wooden side tables and plant pots made from clay, painted white.

Reflect the greenery from the garden in your living room by introducing plants that grow locally. Big leafy greens will brighten up any room in an instant. Live somewhere more urban? There are no rules – you can create a tropical paradise anywhere with a few palm plants and some well placed cactuses.

Colours of the ocean

Even if you’re not lucky enough to have a view of the ocean from your living room, you can draw on the calming colour palette. Soft greys, cool blues and crisp white work in harmony to create a look that’s airy and light but never cold. Create interest and additional warmth with woven accessories or bamboo accents.

Stay away from angular shapes, instead choosing gentle waves that mirror the curvature of the coastline – a circular jute rug paired with grey-blue walls is the perfect hint to sandy shores. Choose quality over quantity to keep the look uncluttered. Add interest at every level – simple accessories on a shelf and eye-catching pendant lighting to draw the eye upwards.

A sofa made for chilling

Curvacious and comfy, there was never any doubt that our Palm sofa had star potential. It looks like it was made for TV with its luxurious velvety fabric and stunning pleating detail – so it was the obvious choice for our current TV adverts.

In beautiful silver grey it fits with the tonal palette of our coastal inspired living room look, and the curved modular design allowed us to really make the most of the space we had on set. The Palm is sweeping, soft and totally sophisticated, with deep seats and a luxuriously soft pillow back design – perfect for stretching out and relaxing with family and friends.

Our stylist’s top tips

Our look was put together by Sofology’s expert interior stylists on the set of the TV ad. Faye Leeming, Sofology’s senior visual merchandiser talks us through the style:

“Our Palm room set is the perfect juxtaposition of indoor and outdoor living. This contemporary style combines neutral colours and textural materials with beachside living and modern craftsmanship.

Create a layered look by using different textures to create depth. Use simple understated patterns and tactile natural accessories, from scatters and throws to rugs and functional furniture.

Artisan details in neutral ceramics and a woven jute rug add intrigue to the space, with touches of green bringing the outside in. Finish off the look with simple abstract art to complement the accessories, sofa and colour scheme.”
